AUIS lecturer Soran Sadiq selected as 2018 Fulbright Visiting Scholar

Soran Sadiq, an AUIS lecturer of Accounting and Finance, has been selected as a finalist for the 2018 Fulbright Visiting Scholar program, which aims to provide Iraqi academics with the tools and knowledge needed to advance their institutions of higher education. Sadiq was chosen among a record number of applicants for this year’s program and will participate in professional trainings on teaching methodology, using technology in the classroom, designing better assessments of student progress as well as general classroom management skills. “I grew up in the United Kingdom and did all of my education there, but now I am teaching at an American university, so it’s only fair that I become more familiar with the U.S. education system and meet new people and make connections with other academics,” he said. He added, “I hope to come back as a better teacher and with a new publication under my belt.” Sadiq joined AUIS in September 2015 and is currently pursuing research on the lack of pension plans in Iraq’s private sector and the correlation to causes of poverty.
