AUIS College of Pharmacy Visit to High Quality Hospital: Enhancing Student Learning Through Firsthand Experience

The College of Pharmacy at American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) organized a field trip to the High Quality Hospital in Sulaimani to provide students with valuable real-world exposure to pharmacy and practical knowledge. The visit, which took place on March 6, 2023, aimed to enhance the learning experience of the future pharmacists and allow them to witness firsthand the inner workings of a renowned healthcare institution.

AUIS is well-known for its commitment to providing quality education and preparing its students for successful careers in various healthcare fields. Recognizing the significance of practical experience in pharmacy education, the College of Pharmacy has been proactive in incorporating experiential learning opportunities into its curriculum. The field trip to High Quality Hospital was an extension of this commitment, allowing students to observe and engage with professionals in a clinical setting.

The visit provided a unique opportunity for the AUIS College of Pharmacy students to witness the day-to-day operations of a modern hospital and gain insight into the role of pharmacists in patient care. They had the chance to interact with pharmacists, doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, and learn about their collaborative efforts in ensuring the safe and effective use of medications.

During their visit, the AUIS students were given a guided tour of the hospital in general and its pharmacy department in particular. The AUIS College of Pharmacy believes that experiences like these not only enhance students' understanding of their future profession but also foster personal and professional growth.
