Dr. Mohammed Nawzad Sabir is interim Dean of the College of Pharmacy at American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS). Born in 1968, he attended the College of the Pharmacy at the University of Baghdad and graduated in 1991. He was employed by the Ministry of Health/Department of Health in Sulaimani in 1991 at the local teaching hospital, where he worked at different posts, including as a clinical pharmacist, Head of the Drug and Therapeutic Committee at the Teaching and General Hospitals, Director of Drug and Medical Supplies Department at the Department of Health, as a member of the SCR-986 Committee, and as a national pharmacist employed by the WHO in the SCR-986 program for three years. He was also a member of the High Committee of the Kurdistan Medical Association and the Head of the Pharmacy branch-Sulaimani from 1998 to 2003.
In 2006, Dr. Mohammed joined the College of Pharmacy and the University of Sulaimani as a lab instructor. In 2009, he was enrolled as a teaching faculty member and as the Head of the Department of Pharmacognosy and Pharmaceutical Chemistry until 2015. In 2010, he was appointed Vice Dean of the College of Pharmacy. After obtaining his Ph.D. in 2019, he was a lecturer at the Pharmacy College at the University of Sulaimani.
His research interests are in biotechnology, drug development and discovery, and natural products. He joined AUIS as interim Dean in October 2022. Dr. Mohammed is the author of four publications and a book. He currently lives in Sulaimani.
