Dawn Dekle, president of AUIS, along with Esther Mulnix, vice president of academic affairs and Geoffrey Gresk dean of students, welcomed students back on first day of the Fall semester. The group visited three classes from various academic departments on the University campus to speak with undergraduate students and to welcome them back to campus. Invoking an American tradition where students present an apple to their teacher, Dekle reversed the roles and she, and her colleagues, presented students with apples. “I appreciate everyone coming back to the University, “Dekle said. “It has not been an easy summer for our students and we are pleased they are returning to their studies.”
Fourteen new faculty members joined AUIS this year, joining more than 600 students in the undergraduate program. The student body remains diverse and are studying in five academic areas: engineering, information technology, international studies, business administration, and english journalism.
