American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) hosted research symposium on November 27, 2019 organized by the University’s Engineering department.
The event, titled “AUIS Research Collaboration Symposium,” marked a new, pioneering effort by the University to form a nucleus for collaborative research aimed at enhancing the quality and value of university graduates and their scientific output in the Kurdistan Region and the Republic of Iraq at large.

“This AUIS Research Collaboration Symposium will lay the foundation for establishing an institute that focuses on supporting innovation, research, and development in governmental and industrial sectors,” said Engineering Department Chair Dr. Ameen El-Sinawi.
Representatives from the Corporation of Research and Industrial Development of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals in Baghdad as well as from the Ministry of Construction and Housing, Construction Laboratories from Sulaimani provided insight into research center capacity across the country.
Further presentations were delivered by academics from the University of Sulaimani and University of Babylon; as well as representatives from private sector companies in the region.
