Zimkitha Mpatheni is Director of the Academic Preparatory Program at American University of Iraq, Sulaimani, where she has been a faculty member since 2013. She has previously taught APP courses, been part of the CEA accreditation self-study process as the self-study coordinator with her director, and been a technical administrator in various English projects in the Kurdistan Region and Saudi Arabia. She has taught English as a foreign language in Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Kurdistan, and has participated in curriculum development in all institutions. She has recently been part of the first co-university professional development project with the University of Sulaimani that presented online education during the pandemic in April 2021. She has also served as chair for the professional development and curriculum committee. She has published some of her poetry in the Sol Plaatje European Union Anthology in 2019, and in the South African Literary Journal in 2020.
Zimkitha has an M.A. in Applied Linguistics and TESOL from the University of Portsmouth, and she has a second M.Ed. in Tertiary and Higher Education from the University of Highlands and Island in Scotland. Her research interest is in second language education.

Ahmed Aram is an AUIS alumnus ('18, IT and Business Management) and prioritizes professionalism and hard work. He is a creative and driven individual with a keen attention to detail and meeting deadlines. He couples this with his insatiable interest in serving our students and faculty with the best possible solution. Ahmed’s major interests in IT lie in CCTV, surveillance, and Video Management Software systems. He chose to work for AUIS because he enjoys the university and respects how it functions as a whole.
Pers Osman, APP Intern

Pers joined AUIS in 2018 and is an Information Technology student with great interest in networking. He was eager to take advantage of the opportunity to become an APP intern and support AUIS staff members. Pers believes diversity is what makes the AUIS community so great and that interacting with so many people from different backgrounds has helped him learn new workplace skills.
Hadi Ammar, APP Intern

Hadi Ammar Al Noori joined AUIS in 2019. He is currently majoring in Business Administration, and planning for an IT minor. He hopes to further specialize in Banking. His tasks as an APP intern include Arabic-English translation, providing support to students from outside of Sulaimani, and assisting with APP events such as orientation and graduation.
